Dave was a 1975 graduate of Winchester High and attended John Wood Community College's watch making program in Quincy. He and Anita owned and operated Dave's Music and Newman's Jewelry in Jacksonville and currently in Winchester. He loved the Winchester community, serving on the Winchester City Council for six years and two terms as mayor. Active in the Community Band, Chamber of Commerce, Scouts' Pinewood Derby, Library and Pool Board, he was the sound man for area events from the 4-H fair, school concerts, church events, weddings, and parties. He was an active member of the Winchester United Methodist Church, Pioneer Lodge 70 IOOF in Winchester, and Illini 4 IOOF in Jacksonville. He enjoyed auctions and sales. He loved his family, cooking out with friends and fireworks.
Daves Music was established in 1983 and served the community with new to vintage instruments.
Carl Thomas – Quincy Guitar Show / Channel 7 KHQA – “go-to vintage guitar guy in West Central Illinois.” And refers to Dave as a Tri State Legend.
Andy Smith – “You just don't find those type of people or business relationships anymore!”
Chris Vallilo – “Dave was a true gentleman and a generous soul.”
The loss of people like this too early have such a heavy impact on their families and communities. This family has entrusted Aumann Auctions to help inventory and liquidate the “Dave’s Music Store” assets. We encourage anyone looking for an instrument or just curious to spend time digging through these auctions to find something that fits your needs or wants.
Dave did some much for so many – it’s time we do something for him!
