Martien van der Zanden joined the Aumann Auctions team as the European Director in 2016, as Aumann Vintage Power established its presence in Europe.
in his mid-twenties, while studying in the medical field, van der Zanden was a rider on the motocross circuit and a board member of the motocross club. Through the club, van der Zanden met a tractor collector and restorer, who infected him with the hobby.
Martien soon became a collector himself, picking up an Italian-built 1924 Motomeccanica. He soon became a member of a club of tractor collectors and editor of the club magazine. Matien’s enthusiasm grew, and was soon shared and supported by his wife, Margot. As a team, their collection grew to include many nice tractors, European porcelain tractor signs, literature, antique spark plugs and beautifully designed memorabilia.
As Martien and Margot’s travels and passion for collecting grew, the hobby soon took them to the States, where they met Kurt Aumann, and in 2001, Aumann Auctions held an auction of their outsized European porcelain tractor sign collection.
The van der Zandens remained in contact with Aumann as the idea of introducing vintage power auctions to Europe simmered. In 2016, the time was right at last.
Martien and Margot handle every aspect of Aumann Vintage Power’s operations in Europe, as they continue to introduce this new and successful method of buying and selling to vintage power enthusiasts.

I am a 20 year Army veteran. I served as a diesel mechanic for 15 of those years before turning to more to the day to day running of a maintenance facility. Now that I have retired from that life I run my own custom baling business and preform many different tasks around Aumann Auctions, including working on any of the various tractors before sales. I am an avid collector of Case tractors and equipment, and occasionally a Massey Harris slips into my collection.
I am currently in my second term as the President of the American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville Illinois. I also am secretary for the Massey Collectors of Illinois. When not on the road with Aumann’s or in Greenville you can find me at various antique tractor shows.

I am a native of Kansas City, MO, where my grandfather, and later my father, owned and operated a heavy equipment consignment auction company. From the age of 9, I grew up on the farm in Illinois where my step-father was raised. I experienced the typical farm life of walking the fields cutting out weeds, scooping out grain bins and caring for livestock. I credit that experience for my work ethic.
13 years ago, I co-founded a corporation and still currently own shares. My primary responsibility in that corporation was the accounting, although, as any business owner does, I wore many other hats.

I have 2 children. Joseph is fast approaching 14 years old and Alex is not far from turning 2 years old.
I enjoy classic literature. My most recent favorites include War and Peace and The Brothers Karamazov. I also enjoy jazz and classical music. Spending time outdoors working or playing with my boys brings me great joy.
