CHURUBUSCO, Ind. (WANE) - One of the country’s most impressive antique tractor collections is housed in northeast Indiana. That will soon change. On Saturday, October 24, Aumann Auctions will present Gary Parker’s collection.
The Churubusco collector spent the last twenty-five years traveling thousands of miles building his collection. During that time, Parker acquired some of the most desired and unique tractors in the hobby.
"He had a real eye for what he was buying and focused on rare tractors," Kurt Aumann, CEO of Aumann Auctions said.
The auction showcases around 140 items. It mostly features tractors but includes other antique agricultural pieces.
Potential bidders are traveling in from not only across the country but from around the world.
"People [are coming] from all over the world including Belgium, New Zealand, Scotland [and] Germany," Aumann said.
People familiar with Parker’s hobby say it is hard to see it broken apart.
"For someone to collect this many tractors of so many different natures is really neat," Jeff Clawson of Churubusco said.
Anyone interested in getting their hands on a piece of the collection should be prepared for the price tags.
"There [are] definitely several pieces in six figures. [There is] a lot of speculation as to how far into the six figures that’s going to get. There’s potential to set records here," Aumann said.
Doors to the auction open at 8:00 am Saturday. The auction begins at 10:00 and will take place at the Parker Antique Tractor Museum:
17218 Wesley Chapel Road
Churubusco, IN
